Strain, Transmitted Optical Power and Length Measurement System.
T
he
SPL400 features the high reliability of its predecessor with
improved accuracy and repeatability. The SPL400 offers a much
smaller footprint and improved portability as a result of its fully
solid state digital design with no moving parts to wear out or
align.
Flexibility: The SPL400 operates by launching light at highly
accurate wavelengths into the fiber/cable under test and measuring
the transit time (and hence fiber length) taken to travel through
the fiber. Changes in the fiber length (referred to as fiber strain)
from environmental or mechanical tensile tests are automatically
processed and presented graphically as required by the operator.
Systems purchased with the optional multiplexers can automatically
measure multiple fibers in a cable and include a reference channel
at no extra cost for the ultimate in measurement stability. In
addition, a single fiber can be used as a simple cable extensometer.
Software for the SPL400 fully integrates the operation of the
multiplexers and with an optional software package, allows the
automated measurement of ribbon skew. Features.
